The second largest city in Turkey and the capital of the Republic is Ankara. Once occupied by the Hittites, Phrygians, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottomans, this modern city is home to the Turkish government and all foreign embassies. It is now famous for its prized wool, and angora hair from cats and rabbits. It is located in central Anatolia, providing easy access to all corners of Turkey.
