Life in Konya dates as far back as 3000 BC and history indicates it fell under rule of the Hittites, Phrygians, and Persians before Alexander the Great took control of the city in 333 BC. The main sites of Konya include Alaeddin Mosque, Ince Minaret Medrese, Seljuk Tower and the Mevlana Museum.
