Mevlana

Mevlana Celaddiin-I Rumi (most notably remembered as Rumi) is a 13th century Muslim mystic and saint whose poems and words of wisdom have resonated throughout the world in many languages. He advocated complete tolerance and positive reasoning to all races and religions through his teachings. This prompted Pope John XXIII in 1958 to say: ‘In the name of the Catholic World, I bow with respect before the memory of Rumi'. The dance of the Whirling Dervishes was taught by Rumi, and is believed to bring one closer to God. Rumi passed away in 1273.
