Troy

The first ancient city of Troy dates as far back as 3000 BC, and due to fire, flood, battle, and other disasters, eight more cities were constructed on top of each other. The city is most famous for the Battle of Troy, which was allegedly over Helen, and is now considered the battle that launched 1000 ships. The modern replica of the Trojan horse can be viewed today, and it is believed the proverb, ‘Never trust a Greek baring gifts’ came from here. Homer’s legendary Iliad and Odyssey are also referenced at Troy.
