Today Gursan Ergil will take the group on a mixture of a city tour and a historic gardens tour. An English speaking, professional local guide will also accompany the group.
We will venture into Topkapi Palace to visit the interiors and gardens, exploring the spacious grounds, four courtyards and also have time to visit the Harem. (At an extra fee)
Leaving Topkapi Palace behind us, we head to Ayasofia Museum, the 6th Century Byzantine basilica and largest church of its era. We discover the architectural glory of the Byzantines and our guide will explain not only the changes Ayasofia has undergone through the eras but also Istanbul as a city.
The Hippodrome, where the chariot races were held is next on the list for today’s tour. We also see the Obelisk and the Serpentine Column and then depart for Suleymaniye Mosque. The Suleymaniye Mosque is the largest mosque in Istanbul, a masterpiece of famous Architect Sinan and the home of tombs of Suleyman The Magnificent and his wife Roxalena (Hurrem Sultan).
The final stop is Istanbul University Faculty Alfred Heilbronn Botanical Garden.
