Also known as Karmylassos, this small village is located 8km from Fethiye, in Turkey’s south-west. Greek Christians from the 18th century inhabited it, however after the population exchange of 1923, the village now remains a ‘ghost town.’ It has been converted to a museum village, and was adopted by UNESCO as a World Friendship and Peace Village. Today, you can still see schools, churches and houses, all abandoned by its 2000 inhabitants.
