The Celsus Library in the ruins of Ephesus is heralded as the highlight of the ruins. Dating back to 117 A.D it was built for Gaius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, the governor for Asia. The library is a two storied structure and an architectural gem of its time. With impressive Corinthian columns and statues depicting wisdom, knowledge, valour and intelligence the library used to house over 12,000 scripts and was the third richest library of ancient times.
