Termessos

Set 1050 metres up in the Tauras Mountains, Termessos is probably one of the most dramatic ancient ruins in the Antalya region. Believed to be dating back to prior to 333 B.C it only became part of history from this date, thanks to Alexander the Great. He surrounded the city in 333 B.C but was unable to conquer it, due to its mountainous terrain. Seeing as the ruins are so challenging to reach, those that do arrive, are not disappointed with the sweeping views over the plains towards the ocean and the antiquity of the extravagant tombs, theatre, cistern and city walls.
