Cappadocia

Definitely one of the highlights of Turkey, the region known as modern day Cappadocia spans over 400 square kilometres and is made up of unique landscapes which have been forming for millions of years. Persians, Assyrians, Greeks and Hittites all lived in Cappadocia during pre-Hellenistic times, and in the middle ages, Turkish tribes arrived who now make up the majority of the population today. During the fourt century, Cappadocia was known as the land of three saints – St Gregory of Nyssa, St Basil the Great and St Gregory of Nazianzus. Described as ‘moonscapes’, the terrain of Cappadocia is a magical place. It is laced with fairy chimneys, underground cities, open-air museums, and hidden valleys, and you will undoubtedly be left in awe as you discover a whole new world.
