Today we will continue to take in the many wonders in the Cappadocian region. We will start by visiting the Uchisar Castle ion the way to the Ihlara Valley. Here we will enjoy a leisurely paced wander through the shaded river valley that has caves, churches and other rock formations scattered throughout. We will enjoy a peaceful lunch relaxing along the river before we go to visit the Underground City of Kaymakli, which dates back to Hittite times (1200BCE). Here you can see how the people took refuge from being under siege and made this underground city into a habitable area. With separate rooms, kitchens, schools and even a winery, we can walk through many of the levels to get an idea of how they lived whilst in hiding. Tonight we will stay back in Goreme and enjoy a BBQ dinner to converse over all the amazing things we have taken in over the last few weeks.
