The Bosphorus is the stretch of water separating Europe from Asia in Istanbul, and is still a very important and busy waterway. This is the only sea channel offering access to the Black Sea, so you will often spot large container/cargo vessels sporting flags of various countries moving in both directions. Along the shores of the Bosphorus are many significant places on both the Rumelian and Anatolian sides.
