Dolmabahce Palace

This majestic palace situated on the banks of the Bosphorus was home to the last six Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. More importantly, however, it was home to the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (father of the Turks) and served as government headquarters after the Republic was formed. It also hosts the world’s largest Bohemian crystal chandelier, weighing over 4.5 tons. Construction was completed in 1856.
