The only mosque with six minarets, the Blue Mosque gets its name from the intricate blue tiles adorning its interior. Completed in 1616, its construction was ordered by Sultan Ahmet, who became Sultan at the tender age of 14, and died 14 years later. Still used as a mosque today, non-Muslim visitors can explore this magical place of worship only outside times of prayer. You should ensure you cover your shoulders and knees before entering the mosque, and never wear shoes inside.
