Kekova

Kekova is the common name given to the area that encompasses The Sunken City, Simena, Ucagiz and Tersane. A beautiful area with pristine coastline and rich in history it was declared a protected area in 1990. There are historical relics and ruins that date back to 5th Century Lycian times with scattered sarcophagus around the island and some submerged in the waters. It was well known that Kekova was used as a port town for the Lycians way to gain access to the mainland. The ancient castle sitting in ruin, dates back to 4th Century Byzantine times. It has an old amphitheatre within its walls and offers sweeping views over the coastline.
