The Ruins of Ani are accessed via Kars, a town situated out in Eastern Turkey. The ruins sit atop a valley that separates Turkey with Armenia and it is possible to see the Armenian border from within the ruins. With lush green rolling hills you get to wander through the churches and monuments that were once part of the Ancient Armenian Kingdom dating back to 5th Century A.D. As the ruins have not hit the major tourist routes yet, you can often find yourself the only one within the picture perfect scenery.
